Questions, answered.
Are my files really never uploaded?
Correct. Compression and splitting run in your browser using client-side PDF processing. The only data our server ever sees is your account info and a log of file names and sizes — never file contents.
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on the file. PDFs heavy with photos compress dramatically, since embedded JPEG images are recompressed. PDFs that are mostly text or vector graphics are already compact and shrink less — splitting is the better tool there.
Why didn’t my PDF reach the size I wanted?
Very image-heavy PDFs can only be compressed so far — each image has a quality floor below which it would become unreadable. If compression alone can’t hit your target size, use Split instead: it always gets every part under your limit.
How does splitting work?
Split divides your PDF into parts by page, measuring real byte sizes and re-dividing until every part is under your chosen limit — pick a 4, 5, 10, or 15 MB preset, or set any custom size. You always get valid, complete PDFs.
What does a credit cost?
You get 10 free credits when you sign up. After that, a $15 CAD top-up (plus 13% HST) adds 90 credits — or top up any larger amount at the same rate of 6 credits per dollar. One credit processes one file, and credits never expire. Note: the charge on your statement will appear as “Moga Web”, the company behind MakeMB.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 100 MB are supported. Since processing happens on your own device, this is a practical guardrail for browser performance rather than a server restriction — there is no upload to limit.
Do I need to install anything?
No. MakeMB runs in any modern browser on desktop or mobile. There is nothing to download or update.
